AC/DC Brian Jonston going mutton as USA tour postponed
Rock and Roll is Noise Pollution

Australian rock band AC/DC are postponing the rest of their US tour after singer Brian Johnson was warned he is going deaf.
The band posted a statement on their website saying doctors had advised Johnson to stop touring immediately or "risk total hearing loss".
They said they would likely perform with a guest vocalist in rescheduled shows later this year.
Johnson, 68, from Gateshead, has been lead singer with AC/DC since 1980.
The news is the latest in a series of setbacks for the band.
Former drummer Phil Rudd was convicted last year of drug possession and making threats to kill. He served eight months of home detention.
In 2014, it emerged that founding member and guitarist Malcolm Young would not be joining the band on tours as he was suffering from dementia.
The band released its latest album Rock or Bust in November that year and has been touring ever since to promote it.

Hope the West Ham gig OK.

That's the trouble with old bands the brain is young but the body can't keep up.Same as the Stones they're performing in Cuba can see one of them croaking it on stage.

AC/DC died when Bon Scott passed away, they've sounded like an average tribute band since then.

For me the singer has always been the least important part of AC/DC. The rest of the band belting it out underpinned by the rock solid rhythm section has always been the core of it for me personally. I wish Angus would cut some of the solos out too.

Actually, the singer is usually the least important member of any band for me..

You do know that Brian sang on Back in Black?

It's time for AC/DC to knock it on the head, if they go with another singer it'll mean only Angus & Cliff are real members of the band.

Saw them in 08, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Business wise they must be tied into finishing the tour, otherwise why carry one and on

I have to disagree.
Donnington... starting up with Thunderstruck...
Who would you prefer in that particular moment?

They're both great, just very different... and it propelleled them.

To say that they died when Bon Scott passed away is a bit much maybe?

Dave M, it's just my personal opinion, I don't like Johnsons voice, Scott was unique, Johnson sounds like a pub singer.

Cliff Williams wasn't even the original bassist.

"AC/DC" is now just Angus Young. "If You Want Blood..." is one of THE great live albums. "Back In Black" is okay, but for last 36 years they've been pretty pants, IMHO. Bon Scott era rules, for me, even if not old enough to remember..

Going off on a slight tangent, I always see bands as a bit like football teams, personnel may come and go over the years, but each band can comfortably exist in many different incarnations. People usually hanker for the 'classic' line up but change can sometimes be a good thing.

Clearly some members are more key than others in some bands (e.g. no Motorhead without Lemmy RIP), but others can make quite dramatic changes, and just change into a slightly different beast.

I can usually find positive things in the different eras many bands I like have gone through.

Bungo...

I agree, I saw Slash and the Conspirtors on NYE, for me Guns n Roses was Slash.

Him playing with Miles Kennedy has the Guns n Roses sound & I saw the show for $50.

The original Guns & Roses line up come back & play Vegas with Axl Rose (who's voice has gone) for $450 cheapest ticket.

Im happy with Slash & Miles, superb show.

Genesis is a great example of a band that had many chages of personnel over the years and still retained it's identity:

Peter Gabriel left so Phil Collins fulfilled the singing, Steve Hackett left so Mike Rutherford took most of the lead with Daryl Stuermer filling on lead on tours, then of the course the great Chester Thompson on drums while Phil was singing and even later with Nir Zidkyahu and Ray Wilson, not forgetting Bill Bruford

Queen ain't done to bad touring wise with Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert doing the vocals.

No idea about album sales with the two singers.

Myles is a great singer and a great guitarist. Alter Bridge are one of the best bands I've seen in recent years. Looking forward to them touring again later this year.

Frankly I wouldn't pay £5 (or 5 dollars) to watch Axl show up late and screech his way through the old G'n'R stuff..

Slash and Myles are better than GnR. Largely because Myles can sing and Axl no longer can.
